Contractions started 4 AM. After 6 AM they are 5-10 minutes apart. Went directly to hospital for monitoring. Dr. Sprong is our OB-GYN for delivery. At 1:45 AM mommy is at 6 cm. Started epidural. 2 PM broke water (doctor induced). At 3 PM all is well. Sara resting with blankets. Baby looks good. 3:20 PM drained bladder (a lot). 3:50 PM turned on left side to speed things up... Getting close. 4:05 PM head is showing. 4:20 PM Skyler is born! 5:00 PM nursing for the first time.

Forest rolls over completely for the first time.
After meeting his new friend David Cook, who is 4 months older than Forest, rolling around on the floor, suddenly that very evening Forest started to roll over from his back to his tummy (but not in reverse just yet).

Daddy's first Father's Day.
Forest can now roll back and forth from his tummy to his back, and can also lift himself up high on his arms. He is also just barely starting to pick up objects.

Mommy's birthday.
Forest loves to grab objects and inspect them in his hands and smack them on the table. He doesn't shove everything in his mouth yet. He is not yet crawling or trying to walk, but he tumbles on the floor a lot, rolling all over the place.
On 10/17/04--
FOREST SITS UP FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Forest is still not crawling, but he does get up on all fours and rocks back and forth, and can scoot himself backwards. If braced against a wall, he scoots backwards and works his legs out in front of him, into a sitting position. He also sometimes grabs a hold of the crib bars and pulls himself up, like he's learning how to climb, and gets up on his knees.

Forest crawls forward for the first time.
After weeks of crawling backwards, Forest has finally taken about 4-5 deliberate crawl-steps forward. I caught it on video. We have not encouraged him to walk early, though he showed signs of learning that as early as 3 months by propping him up on his legs. We decided to let him go at his own pace -- we're in no rush!
On 12/5/04--
Forest stands un-aided for the first time.
After only one month of crawling forward (at remarkable speeds), Forest has managed to figure out how to pull himself up to a standing position by himself.

Forest sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves Me without help all the way through. Caught on camera. May have done this before, though usually with some help. He is also using a baby dall to mimic mommy while she feeds and burps Sky.

Forest tells daddy about his dream for the first time (upon asking about his dream... he may have told us about dreams before but either he didn't understand it was a dream or we didn't).
Forest & Sky have inherited a genealogy that includes ancestors in Taiwan, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and possibly Native America (so far a rumor). This diverse heritage fortifies their unique identities in the world and has granted each good health, competitive intelligence, and a handsome appearance.
Below are lists of their relatives. In the notation, "G" means both "great" and "grandparent", so 4GG means "4th great grandparent". "C" means "cousin" and "R" means "removed". So 2C3R means "second cousin thrice removed", or 20C5R means "twentieth cousin five times removed".
